Facials:

A Facial is a procedure involving a variety of skin care steps, including:  steam, exfoliation, extractions, and massage, cream, lotions and masques.

Facials have a variety of benefits for the skin; there are also many health benefits as well. Facials can improve the immune system, aid in detoxification, reduce fluid buildup.

Facials involve some massage which aids in blood circulation and lymphatic drainage and aids in the relaxation of facial muscles that can slow the onset of wrinkles. Puffiness reduction, sagging in the face and skin cell renewal will also benefit from these massage techniques.

A facial leaves your skin cleaner, softer, younger, and truly transformed. Your skin is the body’s largest organ and is a direct reflection of internal wellbeing. Facials can clear clogged skin and remove dead cells.

It is always best to start with the basics. For your first time I would recommend a cleansing facial and have a customized plan specially for your skin

Mineral Make-up

Skin nurturing mineral makeup for beauty with a higher purpose. Advanced formulations combine pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, natural high-pigment minerals and the power of antioxidants. The result is clinically advanced makeup that covers and helps correct and protect. glominerals cosmetics deliver unsurpassed coverage, broad spectrum UV protection and helps combat free radical damage. This clinical mineral makeup line is preferred by dermatologists and leading skincare professionals worldwide. Perfect skin isn't a matter of luck; it's a matter of science. glominerals makes science beautiful.

Mineral makeup offers a solution. Since these formulas are oil-free, they do not support the growth of bacteria—making mineral makeup especially beneficial for patients with acne-prone skin. And because it does not contain sensitizers like perfumes and chemical dyes that may cause allergies, mineral makeup is considered gentle for sensitive skin types.

The main ingredients in mineral makeup are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide—both physical sunscreens that provide broad-spectrum sun protection against UVA and UVB rays. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are considered physical blocks because they “sit” on the skin’s surface and are not absorbed by the skin. Zinc is an antioxidant and plays an important role in protecting the skin against free radical damage.

Effective Skin care ingredients
Peptides
Peptides are proteins that have beneficial effect on skin. Though a number of peptides have been shown to have beneficial effects, two in particular deserve more attention – copper peptides and palmitoyl pentapeptide 3 (also called Matrixyl).
Copper peptides were discovered to help heal tissue when applied to lesions and wounds. In addit...ion, they’ve been shown to reduce the formation of scar tissue while also stimulating the production of cell renewal. Peptides can regulate the growth rate of skin layer cells, limit potentially harmful oxidation, and even create an anti-inflammatory environment that ensures optimal healing conditions.
Palmitoyl pentapeptide 3 Reduces wrinkle improves skin time by stimulating the DNA of new collagen.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is backed up by a considerable amount of Clinical research that increase collagen synthesis, protects against free radicals and helps lighten sun damage.
Vitamin A
Retinoid is a derivative of Vitamin A. There are several currently used in skin care preparations – retinol, retinyl palmitate, tretinoin, tazarotene. While retinol and retinyl palmitate may be found in over the counter, the latter two require a doctor’s prescription. Caution as these also cause sun sensitivities and requires a sun block. Remember “Why correct if you don’t protect”
Hydroquinone
Hydroquinone is referred to as a bleaching cream. In fact, it doesn’t bleach the skin; it works by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase, responsible for the production of melanin, a skin pigment.

Hydroquinone is available in 2 % over the counter; however stronger strengths need a prescription. Hydroquinone has received some bad press due to reports of carcinogenicity, which is still being disputed. However, if it is used at low, recommended doses for short periods of time hydroquinone has been shown to be safe and effective.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s) Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA’s)

Alpha and Beta hydroxy acids are the miracle drug of the 90’s. Alphas are water soluble; where as Beta’s are oil soluble.

Among the Alphas the most effective is Glycolic which has the smallest molecular weight and most easily absorbed. Glycolic acid is derived from (sugarcane) Lactic acid (sour milk) malic acid (apples) Citrus acid (Citrus fruit) and tartaric acid (grapes)

Glycolic Acid in higher concentration and lower pH can remove a tattoo in lower concentration higher pH can hydrate.  Helps to resurface, improve wrinkles and reduce photo damage.

Beta Hydroxy acids are mainly salicylic Acid and work wonders on skin that has acne.  They are able to penetrate the pore which contains sebum and exfoliate the dead skin cells that have built up inside the pore.

This is interesting when it comes to using AHAs and BHAs, even though it help to reduce sun damage,  it also makes you susceptible to it. Therefore it is imperative to wear sunscreen.

Sunscreen/Sunblock

“Why correct, if you don’t protect.”

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. The number indicates how long you can be in sun exposure before you burn, so a SPF 15 gives you fifteen times longer in the sun than no sunscreen.

Sunscreens are chemical, where as sun block are physical with broader spectrum blocking UVA and UVB and contain titanium oxide or zinc.

Ninety percent of premature aging is sun related. The left side of your face, which is your driver’s side, has the most damage for example larger pores; more lines, wrinkle and age spots. The First thing one need to commit to should one wish to correct and prevent future damage is wearing a sun block on a daily basis.

One needs to liberally apply sunscreen head to toe. It is always best to use a cream or lotion with a SPF instead of it being in your makeup.  Face, neck, shoulders, décolleté, ears most importantly. Apply 20 minutes before sun exposure. Weather its states sweat proof or waterproof, use rule of thumb reapply it.
